  1. sudo apt install pavucontrol
  2. start pavucontrol
  3. start audacity
  4. in audacity set host to ALSA and the recording device to pulse
  5. check that audacity is shown on tab recording of pavucontrol
  6. preview/monitor recording by clicking next to the mic symbol
